Event Description

The Global Taiwan Institute will be hosting a public seminar on US-Taiwan relations with Mayor Lin Yu-Chang, of Keelung City, a major port city in northern Taiwan.

Mayor Lin previously served as the spokesman and later as the deputy secretary-general of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). He graduated from National Taiwan University with a Master’s Degree in building and planning. Mr. Lin has served as the mayor of Keelung city since 2014 and most recently as DPP’s acting chairman after Taiwan’s 2018 local elections from November 2018 to January 2019. 

Mr. Lin represents a new generation of political leaders in Taiwan. At the event, Mayor Lin will share his thoughts and insights on the growing competition between democracies and autocracies, the impact of China’s rise, his vision for the future of Taiwan, US-Taiwan relations, and cross-Strait relations.
