THE FILM

We will be showing the film “Way Out: D-Fight,” directed by Taiwanese director Pan Wei-chieh (潘瑋杰).

By the end of summer in 2014, the only physically-challenged baseball team in Taiwan – Mars Baseball Team, was practicing intensively to attend the 3rd World Physically Challenged Baseball Tournament held in Japan. A tough team of five players with polio, right-hand muscular atrophy, hemophilia, muscular atrophy, and vision-impaired respectively, was going to pursue their dreams of finding a home for their soul. However, would the journey to Japan create more possibilities for them? Could they play until their last breath for their way out?

GUEST SPEAKER

We will be joined by guest speaker director Pan Wei-chieh (潘瑋杰). Graduating with a B.A. in Visual Communication Design from Ming Chi University of Technology, he entered the documentary field in 2010 to tell the story of his team, the Mars Baseball Team, how they came together, and participated in the World Physically Challenged Baseball Tournament.

We are grateful to the Taiwan Academy, Ministry of Culture, Taiwan for providing resources to the GTI cultural programs series.
