Julia Famularo

Julia Famularo is a postdoctoral fellow in Taiwan studies at Harvard University. She has worked extensively on Taiwan, ethnographic Tibet, East Turkestan, and Hong Kong. Her current research project focuses on whole-of-society resiliency in Taiwan, with an emphasis on Taiwan’s government-sponsored “alternative civilian service” program. Famularo earned her PhD in modern Asian political history at Georgetown University, where she also served as the editor-in-chief of the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs. Famularo earned an MA in East Asian studies from Columbia University and a BA in East Asian studies and Spanish literature from Haverford College. She previously served as an international security studies predoctoral fellow at Yale University.
