Event Description:
We welcome you to join the Global Taiwan Institute (GTI) at our 2026 Annual Symposium, which will feature leading policy experts offering their insights on a broad range of policy issues impacting US-Taiwan relations. As GTI’s flagship annual event, the symposium is a forum that convenes leading experts on US-Taiwan policy to discuss current challenges and propose potential future solutions.
The event, taking place over the course of a full day, in-person session in Washington, DC, will address a range of critical issues in US-Taiwan relations. This year’s symposium will be organized around four engaging panel discussions on regional geopolitics in Asia; the US-Taiwan trade and technology relationship; the non-traditional threats to Taiwan’s security; and the growing military threat to Taiwan, and Taiwan’s own evolving defense posture. The forum will also include a moderated interview session with former US policymakers, and speeches from senior Taiwan government representatives.
The event will be free and open to the public for in-person attendance, and will also be livestreamed. Public participation is welcome, and questions for the panel speakers may either be sent by e-mail to “contact@globaltaiwan.org” or through the chat function on the YouTube page.
Doors will open at 8:00 AM on the day of the event, and the event will begin at 8:45 AM. If you plan on attending in-person, please register by September 30. Please only register if you would like to attend in-person; no registration is necessary to watch the livestream. Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be provided for all attendees. The event will also be broadcast live on our website and on YouTube beginning at 8:30 AM.
