About the Event
The Global Taiwan Institute (GTI) is pleased to invite you to a public seminar titled “Strengthening Taiwan’s Democracy: The Role of Civil Society in Legislative Oversight.”
In this seminar, Li-Yi Chen, Deputy Executive Director of Citizen Congress Watch, will discuss Taiwan’s experience with legislative oversight and parliamentary transparency. Robert Maguire, Vice President for Research and Data at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), will discuss the role of civil society watchdogs in promoting government ethics, transparency, and accountability. Scott Greytak, Deputy Executive Director at Transparency International US, will discuss anti-corruption and financial integrity policy and the role of civil society in advancing policy reforms. Daryl Lobban, Senior Vice President of External Affairs at Common Cause, will discuss civic participation, grassroots engagement, and the role of NGOs in mobilizing the public.The event will be held at GTI’s office located at 1836 Jefferson Place NW in Washington, DC (approximately one block from the Dupont Circle Metro).
