Josh Rogin is lead industry analyst for Global Security analyst for WP Intelligence. Since 2016, Josh has served as a columnist for the Global Opinions section of the Post, where his columns have broken news, provided insight and driven the Washington conversation around national security and foreign policy. With a particular focus on Asia, Josh has interviewed top world leaders, officials and decision makers including the Prime Minister of Japan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris, Indo-Pacific Commander Admiral Samuel Paparo, and many others. He has been a keynote speaker on U.S.-China relations on three continents. His work has been featured on CNN, FOX, MSNBC, CBS, NBS, ABC, NPR and several other outlets. Josh’s best-selling 2021 book: Chaos Under Heaven: Trump, Xi, and the Battle for the 21st Century (Mariner Books), is regarded the most deeply reported accounts of the US-China relationship during the first Trump administration. It revealed new insights on the intersection of the national security world and the business, tech, trade and capital market sectors. In his book and columns, Josh has chronicled the growing intersection of the national security and business worlds, tracking both the tensions and opportunities created by China’s rise and the U.S.-led international response. Previously, Josh has covered foreign policy and national security for Bloomberg View, Newsweek, The Daily Beast, Foreign Policy magazine, Congressional Quarterly, Federal Computer Week magazine, and Japan’s Asahi Shimbun. Josh has been recognized with the Interaction Award for Excellence in International Reporting and as a Finalist for the Livingston Award for Young Journalists. He has also received journalism fellowships from the Knight Foundation, the East-West Center, and the National Press Foundation. Josh holds a BA in international affairs from the George Washington University and studied at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. He lives in Washington, DC with his wife Ali Rogin of the PBS News Hour and their daughter Anne.
