Zaki Atia is a first year MA student at Johns Hopkins SAIS. His regional focus is on China and his functional concentration is security, strategy, and statecraft. Previously, Zaki was a Peace Corps China volunteer stationed in Chongqing from 2018-2020. In 2021-2022, he was awarded the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship to study Mandarin at National Taiwan University’s International Chinese Language Program (ICLP). Zaki is passionate about the Global Taiwan Institute’s mission of promoting Taiwan’s voice on the world stage and is looking forward to working this spring semester.
