Owen Maireni Daniel Sanchez is a Fall 2024 intern at the Global Taiwan Institute. He is currently pursuing a Master of International Affairs with a concentration in Global Security at Baruch College. In June 2024, he came back from his Boren Fellowship in Taiwan through which he studied Mandarin for 10 months. Owen’s research interests revolve around Taiwan’s diplomatic status, LGBTQI+ rights, and defense related topics. Language wise, Owen has a high proficiency in Spanish and Dutch, working proficiency in French, and limited working proficiency in Mandarin.
