Recording: Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy

Recording: Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy

Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy: Opportunities for US-Taiwan Cooperation was a GTI public seminar, held on June 7. The New Southbound Policy is a timely and comprehensive effort to diversify Taiwan’s trade and investment relationships by expanding ties with ASEAN nations and with South Asia. The seminar looked at the rationale behind the initiative, how the policy is being implemented, and what implications it has for the US-Taiwan relationship. Panelists included GTI Senior Research Fellow David An, Vice President at Albright-Stonebridge Group Meredith Miller, Vice President of the US-Taiwan Business Council Lotta Danielsson, and Iris Shaw, senior associate of Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party’s Mission in the United States

Note: GTI apologizes for the poor sound quality of this recording; we were experiencing difficulties with several of our microphones. Every attempt has been made to salvage and amplify the inaudible portions, but you will notice variance in tone and a loud ringing in the background. We are working to fix these issues so that this will not reoccur.
